Fly-Away Spare parts Kit (FASK)

To provide service around the world quickly and efficiently, FURUNO uses a proprietary system called FASK. This system involves storing the necessary parts for certain models as a kit at 10 locations worldwide. Together with the dispatch of trained technicians, FASK enables FURUNO to quickly supply replacement parts.

FURUNO INS Training Center-Training Crew Members of Deepsea Vessels on Operating Integrated Navigation System

Regular technical courses are held in Japan, the U.S. and Denmark to provide high-quality support.

In recent years, navigation equipment and wireless communications systems have become computerized and integrated. With the aim of providing instruction on the practical operation of our systems to ship's crew, we established the FURUNO INS Training Center (INSTC) in Copenhagen, Denmark.

This center trains ship's crew with FURUNO's navigation and communication equipment on how to operate them. Part of the training involves ship's crew acquiring basic knowledge of the equipment and learning how to operate it. Furthermore, simulators are used so that trainees can experience operating the equipment under emergency as well as normal conditions. Recently, the INSTC won approval from authority, Det Norske Veritas (DNV). This means that the course is certified as complying with International Maritime Organization (IMO) standards. Trainees thus receive a certification on completion of the course.

FURUNO believes that safe navigation doesn't hinge on equipment performance alone. It is also dependent on ship's crew having the knowledge and skills to operate navigation equipment.
