Since receiving its first Best Fish Finder Award from the NMEA in 1971, FURUNO has won annual awards in various categories every year.
The mission of the NMEA is to contribute to development and popularization of the marine electronics industry. The association also sets standards for electronic interfaces for navigation equipment, communication protocols, and other aspects of marine electronics.
Annually, the NMEA recognizes the new products with the best design, performance and reliability. Since 1971, FURUNO has had the privilege of winning 201 NMEA awards, which is more than any two other manufacturers combined. In 2006, a new category was added for Manufacturer of the Year - Support and FURUNO was awarded this prestigious title, an honor which FURUNO was awarded again in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011! The NMEA members are comprised of dealers, distributors, industry experts and NMEA-approved technicians, and they each vote for who they feel should win the awards. Therefore, winning these awards helps to build FURUNO's reputation for excellence and reliability among customers around the world.
