Compliance Promotion Group
We have established a Compliance Committee, chaired by the President, and including outside members (lawyers). Taking the FURUNO Group Code of Conduct as a guideline, we are working to disseminate and ﬁrmly establish a culture of consistent compliance with laws, corporate ethics, social norms and other responsibilities.
Compliance Training and Awareness
FURUNO conducts several trainings to increase awareness of compliance. A "Compliance Handbook" and "Compliance Card" are distributed to every employee, and compliance training is provided to all employees in the form of e-learning.
Furthermore, each workplace sets up "workshops" to exchange issues and perspective, while the Compliance Committee distributes newsletter ”Konpura-Kawaraban" to share topics and compliance incidents. FURUNO also declares every October as a "Month of Compliance Enforcement", when the President distributes his message to the employees and each workplace reads through the Compliance Handbook.
The Compliance Committee also regularly conducts surveys to understand the operation and activity in each office, and to see if these operations are aligned with compiance standards. Improvements are suggested, as necessary.
FURUNO established the "FURUNO Hotline" in 2005, enabling contact with external legal experts and the FURUNO legal department. Since then, the "FURUNO Hotline" has been open for reporting legal violation or misconduct in daily operations.
The FURUNO Hotline is available not only to the employees in FURUNO group, but also for employees in customer companies and other stakeholders who have a direct or indirect relationship with FURUNO group's business activities.
This hotline is based on the idea that transparency and fairness is fundamental to the management of a company.
Careful consideration has been made to ensure that the that the reporting person will not be harmed by their actions. In addition, if necessary, the applicable stakeholders will be informed of the content of the report and the result of the company's reaction and preventative measures.
FURUNO strives to protect the informant and ensure the privacy of those who have contacted the hotline. For preventive purposes, FURUNO also shares the issue and results with board members and employees, if necessary.
