2014-10-17

FURUNO ELECTRIC CO., LTD. (headquartered in Nishinomiya, Japan, President: Mr. Yukio Furuno) is pleased to announce that its latest Dead Reckoning (DR)/GPS Receiver Module GV-86 of FURUNO ELECTRIC CO., LTD. has been adopted for SOLID AD-1 series of Clarion Co., Ltd.
(headquartered in Saitama, Japan, Representative Director, President and COO: Mr. Hidetoshi Kawamoto).

FURUNO's DR/GPS Receiver Module "GV-86" is one of the latest modules integrating its exceptional Dead Reckoning function.
The FURUNO GV-86 can receive GPS, Satellite-Based Augmentation Systems (SBAS) and Japan's Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS) concurrently. Moreover, the precise positioning of the vehicle can be achieved by using the information from gyro sensor, accelerometer and speed pulse in areas when no satellite signals are available (in tunnels, underground parking lots, urban canyons etc.). FURUNO provides the highest level of positioning accuracy using higher positioning rates up to 10Hz (10 times per sec.) and fast Time To First Fix (TTFF) (Hot start: <1 sec).

FURUNO's DR/GPS receiver module "GV-86" has been adopted for on-board commercial vehicle units that require long life cycle for product supply, robustness and durability for continuous operation 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. According to Clarion, by installing Android™ as OS, its new On-Board Unit "UA-1138A" will satisfy the strong demand for on-board commercial vehicle units to support various applications required by industry and platform durability.

[About FURUNO's GPS Receiver Chip "eRideOPUS 6" and DR/GPS Receiver Module "GV-86"]

GPS Receiver Chip "eRideOPUS 6", announced in March, 2013, is a single-chip LSIs suitable for automotive applications, capable of concurrently receiving signals from GPS operated by US Department of Defense, Satellite-Based Augmentation Systems (SBAS) and Japan's Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS). In Japan, "eRideOPUS 6" enhances position accuracy especially in urban areas due to improvement of positioning rate by receiving quasi-zenith satellite "Michibiki" in addition to GPS. "GV-86" is the latest DR/GPS receiver module in which FURUNO's "eRideOPUS 6" single chip solution is mounted.
