FURUNO ELECTRIC CO., LTD. is pleased to announce that new Timing Multi-GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) Receiver Module "P/N: GT-87", which is suitable for LTE-Advanced small cellular base stations, will be available from the beginning of 2014. The GT-87 can receive signals stably even in urban canyon thanks to the eRideOPUS 7 which acquires the world's best-in-class numbers of satellites.

The GT-87 supports concurrent reception of GPS, SBAS, QZSS (Japanese Quasi-Zenith Satellite System) and GLONASS (Russian Global Navigation Satellite System). Due to twice the number of satellites in view than with GPS-only thanks to Multi-GNSS, the GT-87 can output accurate and robust 1PPS synchronized to UTC time. The number of acquired satellites is the World's best-in-class.
LTE-Advanced, which is 4th generation communications standards, will accommodate capacity growth of traffic by establishing not only macro cell base stations, but also small cellular base stations. FURUNO have provided the Timing GPS receiver modules for time synchronization among macro cell base stations. The GT-87 is miniature, high sensitivity Timing Multi-GNSS receiver module which is suitable for installation in small cellular base stations.
The GT-87 supports simultaneous output of time pulse (1PPS) and low jitter clock (configurable, e.g. 10MHz) synchronized with the 1PPS. Our timing module has been leveraged not only for cellular base stations, but also for the seismographic network, for the systems to detect the fault part of electric power transmission line, and so on. We expect that the GT-87 will support a wide variety of infrastructure equipments all over the world.
For customers who do not need GLONASS, Timing GPS receiver module, "P/N: GT-86", will be available. The GT-86 has the GPS receiver chip eRideOPUS 6 and has same specifications except GLONASS reception. Both the GT-87 and the GT-86 incorporate an enhanced noise rejection capability by implementing Active Anti-Jamming and Advanced Multipath Mitigation functions.
