Opening Ceremony of FURUNO INSTC Singapore was successfully held on the 1st of November, together with certification awarding ceremony by ClassNK for the Type Specific ECDIS Training by the same training facility.
At the ceremony, Mr. Hiroyuki Mori, Senior Managing Director of Marine Electronics Product Division made a welcome speech, which read, "...it has become common understanding that proper use of the navigation equipment has become more and more important for safe and efficient navigation". He continued, "It is our keen interest and trust that we could contribute to the maritime industry ... the establishment of this INS Training Center Singapore is another strong and professional step ahead in the same direction". His speech was followed by a speech on FURUNO's policy and strategy for ECDIS training and INS Training Center Denmark and Singapore, made by Mr. Mads Friis Sørensen, Branch Manager of FURUNO European Branch Office. After the speeches, Mr. Akihiko Uotani, ClassNK's Regional Manager of South Asia and Oceania presented the ClassNK certificate to Mr. Hiroyuki Mori and Mr. Richard Lee, Managing Director of Rico (PTE) LTD (FURUNO's subsidiary in Singapore).

After the awarding ceremony, all the guests from shipping companies and ship management companies based in Singapore as well as regional representatives from classification societies and representative from Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore were given a guided tour of the facility.
Actual training session at INS TC Singapore
FURUNO INSTC Singapore is FURUNO's second training facility for seafarers, which offers two-day Type Specific ECDIS Training that has just been certified by ClassNK, the world first certified Type Specific ECDIS Training by the classification society. The establishment of INSTC Singapore is an important step for better provision of training to FURUNO's many end users.
