NewFuruno achieves IACS UR E27 certification from multiple classification societies

2026-01-08

Furuno proudly announces another significant achievement in maritime cybersecurity: successful completion of compliance assessments for CLASS NK (Nippon Kaiji Kyokai), CCS (China Classification Society), and ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) security profiles to meet the requirements specified in IACS (International Association of Classification Societies) UR E27.

This accomplishment builds on a major milestone achieved in July 2025, when Furuno became the first Japanese navigation and communication equipment manufacturer to obtain cybersecurity certification from DNV (Det Norske Veritas). With these certifications, Furuno has now earned recognition from multiple leading classification societies, reinforcing our commitment to delivering secure and reliable navigation and communication solutions.

About IACS UR E26 and E27 regulations

IACS has established two unified requirements, IACS UR E26 and E27, to enhance the cyber resilience of ships and onboard systems. These requirements are mandatory for newly contracted vessels on or after 1st July, 2024:

  • IACS UR E26: Focuses on the cyber resilience of ships.
  • IACS UR E27: Addresses the cyber resilience of on-board systems and equipment.
As connectivity between shipboard and shore-based systems continues to increase, the need for robust cybersecurity measures for navigation and communication equipment has grown. Furuno remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering high-quality navigation and communication equipment designed to meet the latest cyber-resilient standards.
