Furuno proudly received five Product of Excellence Awards at the latest NMEA show, marking another year of recognition since our first award in 1971. Each year, NMEA members vote for the products they feel should win these prestigious awards. Membership in the NMEA is reserved for dealers, distributors, industry experts, and NMEA-approved technicians, and their continued votes of confidence for Furuno products is a testament to their reputation for excellence and reliability among marine professionals and boaters worldwide.
For the second year in a row, Furuno’s CSH-10 Full-Circle Scanning Sonar was recognized as the best Omni Sonar, a win that highlights the model’s industry leading breakthrough technologies like independent beam stabilization, Target Lock, Fish Quantity Mark, and a helpful on-screen tilt indicator, as well as native compatibility with the NavNet TZtouchXL and NavNet TZtouchE lines of Multi Function Displays. The CSH-10 continues to see strong adoption across both sportfishing and commercial fishing markets, where it is regularly found aboard tournament-winning vessels as well as commercial fishing fleets around the world.
In the Fish Finder category, Furuno’s DFF-3D Multibeam Sonar secured its eighth Product of Excellence award. The DFF-3D delivers exceptional fish finding capabilities, offering a 3D, 120-degree view of fish and underwater structures from port to starboard. With its Personal Bathymetric Generator (PBG), users can create detailed shaded relief bathymetric charts anywhere their vessel can take them. In addition to PBG, the DFF-3D’s 3D Sounder History mode provides a 3D image of the seafloor with fish school icons, which are useful when selecting a fishing hot spot. Triple Beam mode tells you the depth and direction (port, down, and starboard) of fish targets underneath your vessel. Cross Section mode displays the real-time sea column echo in a 120- degree swath, and Side Scan displays the shape and structure of targets both port and starboard.
In the Commercial Products category, Furuno’s FAR-2228-NXT-BB Radar achieved its sixth win, further cementing its position as one of the industry’s leading commercial Radar systems. This 600W IMO-compliant Solid-State Doppler Radar offers functions such as Automatic Clutter Elimination (ACE), Fast Target Tracking, and a lighter, more efficient mechanical design that minimizes drag and maintenance demands.
For the ninth consecutive year and 50 of the last 51 years, Furuno received the Product of Excellence Award in the Best Radar category. Furuno’s compact 24-inch DRS4D-NXT Solid-State Doppler Radar includes advanced technologies such as Target Analyzer™, Fast Target Tracking, and RezBoost™ beam sharpening. When utilized with Furuno’s TZ MAPS chart engine on NavNet TZtouchXL or NavNet TZtouchE, the DRS4D-NXT unlocks Furuno’s unique Risk Visualizer™ and AI Avoidance Route™ features that help make navigation even safer.
For the sixth time, the judges recognized the SCX-20 Satellite Compass as the Best NMEA2000 Sensor. The SCX-20’s unique quad-antenna design makes it a rugged Satellite Compass capable of calculating precise heading, pitch, roll, and heave information, even when line of sight is limited to only a single satellite.
Lastly, Furuno's partner company Nobeltec claimed its tenth consecutive award in the Marine Software category with TZ Professional. TZ Professional is compatible with the best of Furuno's award-winning sensors, making it a favorite of not only NMEA members but of professional mariners around the world.
Since receiving its first NMEA award in the Fish Finder category in 1971, Furuno has now been recognized by the NMEA for 56 consecutive years. These awards are a great honor for Furuno and reflect the continued recognition of our products and technologies by marine professionals and boaters worldwide.
